Next Day Hamper Delivery: What Is Actually Possible

You have remembered late. The occasion is tomorrow, or the day after, and the question is whether a hamper can still get there.

Here is the straight answer, including the part most gift sites leave out: we cannot honestly guarantee next day delivery. What we control is how fast it leaves us, and that is where the time is usually won or lost.

What we control: same-day dispatch

Every hamper is hand-packed and dispatched from Geelong. Order before 1pm AEST/AEDT on a weekday and it leaves the same day. Public holidays are the exception.

Miss 1pm and it goes the next business day. Order on Friday afternoon and it goes on Monday. That single cut-off is the most useful thing on this page, so if you are working to a date, order in the morning rather than the evening.

How long delivery actually takes

After dispatch, Australia Post takes over. These are their estimates, counted in business days from the day the hamper leaves us:

  • Capital cities in VIC, NSW, ACT and QLD: 1 to 5 business days.
  • Capital cities in SA and TAS: 5 to 7 business days.
  • Capital cities in WA and NT: 7 to 8 business days.
  • Regional areas: add 1 to 2 business days to the capital city estimate.

So a hamper can arrive the next day, but standard delivery is not built around that and we would rather you plan on the realistic end of the range than be caught out.

Express Post, for the tight ones

When the date is close, choose Express Post at checkout. It is $24.95 per hamper and is the faster option to most metropolitan areas. It shortens the trip, but it is still an Australia Post estimate rather than a guarantee, so it is a good bet rather than a sure thing.

For reference, standard delivery is free on any hamper priced $100 or more, and $14.95 flat per hamper under that.

Business days, not days

This is the one that catches people out. Australia Post delivers Monday to Friday, and nothing is dispatched on weekends or public holidays.

If the occasion is on a Saturday, you are really working to the Friday before. Long weekends push everything back another day, and around Christmas and Easter both dispatch and delivery can take longer than the estimates above.

Working back from a date

The easiest way to plan is to count backwards in business days.

  • Sending to Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra or Brisbane: order before 1pm at least a full working week ahead for standard delivery, or choose Express Post if you have less.
  • Sending to Adelaide or Hobart: allow a week and a half.
  • Sending to Perth or Darwin: allow around two weeks.

The city pages are a quick way to browse once you know where it is going: Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, Hobart, Perth and Darwin. Or start from the full range of gift hampers.

What to send when it has to be fast

Everything in stock is packed and dispatched the same way, so speed is not really about the product. What does change is how much a delay would matter.

Pick something that travels well. A hamper built around shelf-stable food and a bottle is unbothered by an extra day in transit. That is most of our range.

Avoid tight-window gifts when the timing is already tight. If a delivery slips by a day and the gift was for a specific evening, you have a problem. If it was a thank you, you do not.

Regional and remote

Worth planning for rather than hoping about. Regional addresses add 1 to 2 business days on top of the capital city estimate.

Some remote locations cannot be serviced directly, and the carrier may deliver to a local depot for the recipient to collect. If you are sending somewhere genuinely remote, call us on 1300 795 802 before ordering. We would rather tell you up front how long it will take than have you find out afterwards.

When it will not make it

Sometimes the honest answer is that it cannot get there in time. Here is what works instead.

Tell them it is coming. A message on the day, saying something is on its way, does most of the work of the gift arriving on time. The thought lands on the date even if the box does not.

Send it late and say so. A gift arriving three days after a birthday with a note that says "this is late and I am not going to pretend otherwise" is charming. A late gift with no acknowledgement is awkward. Own it in one line and move on.

Do not apologise twice. Once in the message, once in person if you see them, and that is it.

Frequently asked questions

Getting the address right

The single biggest cause of a late gift is not the courier. It is an address that was slightly wrong, and once a hamper has been dispatched we generally cannot redirect it.

  • Unit numbers. Put the unit number in, in the format the building uses.
  • Business addresses. Include the company name and the recipient's name, and remember deliveries run Monday to Friday, so an office that is closed on the day is a problem.
  • Home addresses on weekdays. Consider whether anyone will be there. If no one is home and there is nowhere safe to leave it, Australia Post will notify the recipient by SMS or hold it at the nearest post office, which costs time. A work address is often the safer send.
  • Spotted a mistake? Contact us as soon as possible. The sooner we know, the more we can do.

Frequently asked questions

Do you offer guaranteed next day delivery? No. Orders placed before 1pm on a weekday are dispatched the same day, and Express Post is the fastest way to get it there. Delivery times after that are Australia Post estimates.

What is the cut-off? 1pm AEST/AEDT, Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays.

How much is Express Post? $24.95 per hamper, chosen at checkout. You can preview the delivery options and costs for any hamper before you buy.

Can I collect it myself? Yes. Click and Collect from our Geelong dispatch centre is free, which is the fastest option of all if you are nearby.

Does someone have to be home? Anyone at the delivery address is taken to be authorised to receive it. If no one is there and it cannot be left safely, Australia Post will hold it for collection.

Can I send to several addresses at once? Yes, in one order. Multi-address shipping handles the whole list in a single checkout. For staff and client lists, see corporate hampers or call the corporate team on 1300 795 802.

What about Christmas? Different cut-offs, and they come earlier than most people expect. See Christmas shipping 2026 and when to order Christmas gifts.
